In May 2017, Millfield Arts Centre supported 16 students in achieving their Bronze Arts Award as part of the Circulate London Programme. ‘School’s Out’ was performed at Edmonton Green Shopping Centre on 15th July 2017, and was enjoyed by a large audience made up of loyal supporters of Platinum Performing Arts and visitors to the Shopping Centre. The 16 students were also able to attend free performances at Millfield Theatre and the Dugdale Centre, which they then wrote reviews for, and led brief workshops during their rehearsal period. All 16 students achieved their Bronze Arts Award, which gave them UCAS points towards their GCSE.
This summer the Albany ran a week long Street Dance and Outdoor Arts project with 20 young people culminating in an outdoor performance which was a curtain raiser for Sinnestia on Giffin Square. As part of the project the funding from Circulate for Arts Awards allowed the Albany to work intensively with all of the young people to achieve 11 Discover and 9 Explore Arts Awards. Specifically the funding covered resources and materials that the young people needed, staff to support the awards and the cost of moderation.
