A House is not a Home is specifically designed to be played in a non-theatrical space, in a little house structure placed in isolation in an outdoor public space. The plot is simple: two people observe the interior of a house from the garden. They have to share some bad news with the residents, but the image of apparent happiness in the interior will make it hard to achieve this goal.
The audience listen in on the action through headphones, transforming them from spectators into active witnesses to an unfolding situation. The observers may feel the isolation of the house as they are able to spy on the lives of its residents. A single word can disrupt the order of events and transform a peaceful home into an inhospitable place.
